The U.S. exported 188.77 million gallons of ethanol and 1.17 million metric tons of distillers grains in August, according to date released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Nov. 19. Exports of both products were up.
The USDA maintained its forecast for 2025-’26 corn use in ethanol in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Nov. 14. The agency revised up its estimate for 2024-’25 corn use in ethanol.
The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service on Nov. 14 released its latest Crop Production report, predicting U.S. corn production for grain will set a record in 2025. Corn yields are also expected to reach a record high.
With support from Minnesota Corn, University of Minnesota Professor of Chemical Engineering Paul Dauenhauer is exploring the corn-to-methanol pathway for biofuels, which could be used to produce SAF.
UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced sugarcane processing was up slightly in early October. Total ethanol production and sales since the beginning of the current harvest season remain down when compared to last year.
