Do you suppose the corn market will settle down for a bit? Friday's USDA supply and demand report contained no surprises and no changes to ethanol use or yield/supply projections.

Things are heating up in the lame-duck Congress regarding tax breaks. Sen. Baucus included language in a bill that was shot down in a Saturday vote in the Senate. Here's hoping some version of these tax credits get included in compromise bills worked out over the remaining days of the session.

EPA is the ethanol news this week again. Not surprisingly, the E15 decision for 2001 and newer vehicles has been delayed to the end of December. Given the protests after EPA's approval for 2007 and newer vehicles, it may actually be in our favor to have the testing done to support EPA's final decision, since it appears other things are being prepared for wider E15 implementation.

It's time again to make your voice heard. The U.S. EPA is taking comments now on the proposed label for E15, which is far from ideal. Bright yellow label with a huge "Caution" plastered makes ethanol use sound scary, when it's just about E15 not being approved for anything but FFVs right now.
